TRUSTED CONTACTS

Fraud and identity theft are common in Mexico, and Cuenca needed to improve users' trust in case of a robbery or lost card. My task was to design user flow according to Mexico’s complex Bank Commission rules.

I designed a user flow in accordance with the Bank Commission rules and Cuenca’s app UI. As part of the launch, we created a series of funny videos explaining the different scenarios where the new feature would work.

One of our key innovations was creating Trusted Contacts, a program that improves security and usability and creates a great channel for organic growth. The activation process begins when customers deposit over Mx$500 in one month. From there, they add two to three Trusted Contacts who can help them reset their password or block their account in the event their phone is stolen. The contacts must be existing Cuenca customers or sign up for an account — hence the growth opportunity.

One of Cuenca's goals is to balance technology and humanity. We did this by collaborating with artisans whom we asked to design our cards and complimentary card sleeves. These objects have been such a success that many clients seek to purchase them — and their popularity led us to create CuencaCoins. CuencaCoins is a rewards program that allows users to gain credits for specific actions. The most valuable action is inviting new users to activate accounts. Later, users can exchange the CuencaCoins for special-edition cards or sleeves.
